Round 1 of the British GT Championship got underway at Oulton Park with race day on April 1st.
Pro GT ace driver Benji Hetherington and team-mate Olli Hancock joined the grid in a Fortec-run Mercedes AMG SLS GT3.
Qualifying for the race was held on Saturday with Benji putting the Mercedes on pole position for the race on Monday celebrating a fabulous start to his season and the Fortec run car.
After putting the car on pole, Hetherington said ' "Everything has gone really well so far. It's a pleasure for me to join Fortec, they're a great team with a fun atmosphere. Given I've not driven the car on a circuit before today we've done well to find a drivable setup and I'm confident for the race."
The Mercedes AMG SLS GT3 is a globally homologated race car, designed for both sprint and endurance GT racing and has a serous race pedigree the world over having been a frton runner, race and championship winner in the past year.

Starting from pole, Hetherington drove a superb race, handing over to teammate Oli Hancock at the half way point and finally finishing in third place on the podium.
A superb resuly for Benji, especially considering he had not driven the car on track prior to the race!
